Candle Light Vigil for Climate Print E-mail

On Saturday, December 12, 2009, 75 Calgarians braved temparatures below -20 C to reflect upon climate change and what we as a civilization need to do to combat it.

Terence Stone organized the event to coincide with the hundreds of other vigils happening concurrently around the world.

Bill Phipps, nearing the end of his week-long prayer fast, gave words of encouragement. On his blog he writes, "I know that things will heat up (again no pun intended) at COP 15 in the coming days. I just hope the leaders are getting the global message that people want bold action. People sense that this is the moment of truth for humankind."

Seeing these people with their candles in the cold brought a certain warmth to the heart. There is still hope for a real deal in Copenhagen and on Saturday, it was on the faces of 75 frigid Calgarians.

September 15, 2009 - Call to Action on Bill C-311 Print E-mail
It would be great if you all could send an email to our leaders in parliament letting them know that climate change accountability (and Bill C-311) is important to you. If passed, the bill would hold government to account - we'd have to have climate targets to meet the science, legally.

Here's the place you can send the letter to everyone from in one go (thanks, Sierra Club!):
